About MeHey all! I'm Rev. Fred Phantom--a coinsurer of trash cinema. I love horror and exploitation films, but I just love film in general. I'm a fan of The Godfather as well as Hell of the Living Dead--by that I mean, I'm not a snob--to each his own is my take on most things. If it entertains me--it's cool. I'm not one to debate on why a film is good or not, if you like something that I do not, or vice versa--let’s just move on. Shall we?
I’m also very sarcastic, which can be misconstrued as snobbery—but in actuality I’m just a sarcastic asshole. It’s my brand of humor—deal with it.
I'm also a father, a husband, and a musician (in that order). I've played in many bands over the years (that went nowhere) and at one time had my site set on being a rockstar extraordinaire--but now I'm fine with just being a rockstar at the local karaoke bar instead. My love for music even surpasses my love for movies--but music is also a very personal thing to me, which is why I don't really blog about it all that much.
I've been blogging and doing movie reviews for about 3 years now. I started on a whim on my MySpace page and found it to be very therapeutic and in some ways an artistic outlet. I’ve had a few different movie review sites on MySpace and Blogger, some which were all me, and some that other reviewers have contributed to. In December of ’08, I started making “live” or video reviews on YouTube and that has pretty much become my ‘thang’. The fact that so many people take 10 minutes (the average length of the reviews) out of their day to watch my videos is something that actually makes me very happy. I’m an entertainer by nature and entertaining people, even in small doses, makes all the time that I put into the making the videos worth it.
As far as my written reviews—I’m not a writer, I’ll admit that. My grammar is atrocious, I know, but I’m passionate about what I write and think that comes through.
This is my hobby; it is what I do for fun. Hopefully you’ll enjoy what I do. If not, don’t let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out.
